Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hearing from Matthew Spandler-Davison as he shared with us from Hebrews 12:18-24.
"Right now, you are either living your life at the foot of Mt Sinai, trying your best to be good enough, to earn your own righteousness; or you are climbing Mt Zion with Jesus, under His grace and mercy. We will all stand before God one day. The question is: will you be at the foot of Sinai condemned by the law, or will you be standing on top of Zion's hill, saved by grace?"
As the author of Hebrews seeks to encourage wavering Christians to stay faithful to Jesus, he contrasts the experience of Israel receiving the law at Mt Sinai, with the new covenant Christians receive. The new covenant is a covenant of grace and forgiveness purchased by the blood of Jesus."
